Although a small and weedy "old dude", Manson is able to exert extraordinary hypnotic weirdo powers.

Charlie spent most of his life in the slammer before being let out into the midst of the unsuspecting hippies inhabiting San Francisco. Never one to miss out on an opportunity, Charlie quickly acquired a guitar and began to live out his dream as an aspiring singer. This attracted attention from various easily-impressed and bored hippie girls and these unfortunate drifters formed the backbone of what was to become known as the Family. Around this time Charlie began to display his mind-control powers, he began to imposing his weird will on some of the chicks who hung out with him - Charlie the cult leader had been born!

As they spent more time with Charlie, these chicks found it hard to break away from Manson and soon found it even more difficult to remember why they wanted to run away or who they were in the first place! With the help of his faithful follower, Squeaky, Manson used his powers to control the mind of an old ranch owner, George Spahn, and then took control of Spahn Ranch, this would become his base and hideout. Soon word was hitting the San Fran dropout circuit about the Family, and despite their weirdness and increasingly whacked-out actions, many young and old drifters headed to Spahn Ranch.

Charlie champions fear and always rules his gang by intimidation and violence, despite the worship of his female followers, Charlie seems unconcerned about the Family...He is more interested in his aims of ruling the City or the World. Charlie has built a web of many rich and gullible friends, including a bodyguard of bikers called the Straight Satans. He is always searching for new members for his gang, Manson always dreams of corrupting more hippies and making them join the Family.
